Ch. Polarhike Rangers Legacy

Metra

Metra was a special opportunity for us, especially as breeders only just beginning to pave our way into a breeding program.
A friend of ours had inseminated her bitch with the last of a dog we had always been interested in, Ranger, Snowlion’s Lone Ranger (USA).
This dog seemed to be a consistent producer of quality in Australia from the research we had done and the way other breeders had spoken of him to us.
When she offered me to whelp and raise the litter for her, We thought we would be silly to say no! We were very keen for the added experience in the whelping/raising of another litter. We were also very excited to see how a different (Yet, somewhat similar) lineage developed.

Metra was always the pick to us, she was the only girl but she certainly knew how to get your attention!

Some dogs in a breeding program pave their own path.
She was never a big show winner, although she did gain her Australian Championship under 2 years old. She brought home a few frillies but it wasn’t her favorite thing to do.
Metra enjoyed running as a sled dog in the forest and doing life at more speed than the showring has to offer.
However, her legacy for Polarhike is in the whelping box. She has given us two stunning litters - being the mother of both Emmett, BISS CIBJ CH Polarhike Reward of Diligence and Merlin, CIBJ CH Polarhike Beauty of Balance and upcoming star Ivy, Polarhike The Rising of RoyalArctic. (Co-owned Jac Rich, Royal Arctic Kennels)
Metra is a perfect example of a brood bitch, and if there’s one thing i know, It’s how important mothers like her are in a breeding programs success.

Metra will be seeing more time on the trails in 2026 while she has a well deserved break from motherhood.
